Welcome to the Home Page of The Metropolitan NY/NJ Ferret Welfare Society, Inc., a Non-Profit Organization. In these pages, we hope to give you a clear picture of our goals. We hope that you will take the time to enjoy our site, and that you will decide that this is a club that you would like to join! Our MissionWe, the members of The Metropolitan NY/NJ Ferret Welfare Society, Inc., are dedicated to educating the general public about the proper care and ownership of the Domestic Ferret, and, in a combined effort, to aid and support the Ferret Shelters within our own communities. By introducing proper ferret care, and familiarizing current and future ferret owners with the responsibility level needed to care for these wonderful domestic pets, we hope to reduce the excessive occurrences of abandonment, neglect, and abuse that ferrets face today. Company ProfileMetro Ferret is a network of concerned ferret owners, banded together to aid and support our overcrowded Ferret Shelters. We are a club run by ferret owners, for ferret owners. We offer our support services to all. We are a Non-Profit, service-based organization, founded in 1999. Our members strive to meet and educate the general public about the domestic ferret. In addition, we put forth every effort to raise funds for the care and housing of those unfortunate ferrets in the shelter system. We currently help several Ferret Shelter in the New York, New Jersey, and surrounding areas. Due to the recent closure of so many shelters, we are currently evaluating more applicants. Shelter applications have been sent to most, if not all, of the ferret shelters in our area. They are free to apply at their convenience. The members of Metro Ferret wish to make a strong impact on the community in general, and children in particular, about the care and responsibilities of ownership of the domestic ferret We strive to achieve our goals by participating in, and holding ferret-related fun events. We hold fund-raisers, raffles, and a variety of sales events to raise donations for the shelters. In addition, we utilize affiliate programs within this web page to raise funds. We are a Federal Not-for-Profit Organization, with 501(c)(3) Tax-Exempt Status. All donations may be tax-deductible if you itemize. Our Federal EIN is 22-3684207.
