One of our main goals is to try to help support the Ferret
Shelters in our areas. All Ferret Shelters in the Metropolitan NY, NJ and
surrounding areas are welcome to apply for Sponsorship. Currently, we
'officially' support 4 different no-kill ferret shelters. We do, however,
try to offer our support to all of the ferret shelters in our areas. We do
not support any "breeder-shelters" at this time.

From this page, you can click links to adoptable ferrets,
see an overview of the shelters that we work with, and what we do, and see some
of our sponsor ferrets in need. Please click away, and think about helping the
ferrets today! Thanks!
A worthy note to make, is that our members also assist
with a variety of other rescues and shelters, ranging from wild animals to
reptiles! Although our main focus is ferrets, we hate to see any animal suffer!
-
MetroFerret will attempt to ensure that the shelter has
sufficient supplies to care for their population of ferrets, both adoptable
and permanent. We have and will provide donations of Food, Vitamins,
Litter, Hammocks and Toys, as well as items used to maintain cages, like
carpet samples and linoleum. When funds are available, MetroFerret
will purchase Gift Certificates for the Shelters to purchase vaccinations
and other supplies that they may need
-
MetroFerret will attempt to assist the shelters with
veterinary care for the shelter residents. Donations will be made
directly to the shelter's veterinary hospital, either to pay down the
existing bill, or so that the shelter may have additional ferrets treated.
Should the shelter choose, they can submit the information on one particular
ferret in need of costly medical care. On a monthly basis, we will
attempt to raise funds for that ferret's care
-
MetroFerret Members will volunteer to assist the
Shelter Operators with the care of rescue of ferrets. The level of
volunteer work is determined by the shelter. Should a shelter need
help with cleaning cages, cleaning ears, clipping nails, and the like,
volunteers will be scheduled. Should a shelter need transportation or
rescue assistance, volunteers will be scheduled.
If you are a Ferret Shelter, you can click here
for an application in Adobe format. Note: You must have Adobe

Reader 4.0 or higher, it's free to download. If you have difficulties,
please try using the right mouse button, and clicking "Save Target
As". Please print the application, complete it, and mail it to
us. We will contact you upon receipt of your application. Thank you
for your interest!
If you are considering opening a no-kill
ferret shelter, please contact us. We would be happy to help set you up
